What time can I move into my room?

The rooms are ready from 2pm. For a little extra-charge, we also offer an early check-in. If you already want to go skiing or hiking on your arrival day, you are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel.

Where can I park my car?

You can park on our private car park with 40 parking spaces free of charge.

Can I check in late at night?

The reception is open until 23h. At a later check-in we ask you to inform us, so that we can deposit the room key.

Which airport is the closest to the hotel?

Salzburg Airport is the closest to the hotel. Driving time approx. 1,15h with numerous connections to other cities. By taxi or train you will be in a short time at the hotel. A shared airport shuttle can be arranged here.

Which station is the closest to the hotel?

The Zell am See train station is only 15 minutes away from the hotel. Just opposite the train station you will find the bus terminal. Furthermore, you will also find numerous taxis at the station or call our partner Taxi Kaprun Machater.

When do I have to vacate my room on the day of departure?

The rooms must be vacated by 11:00h on the day of departure. If you require a late check-out for a surcharge, please let us know. If you still want to ski on the day of your departure, you are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel.

How can I get from the hotel to the airport?

There are numerous shuttle and taxi services to and from the airport. In particular, we work together with Taxi Kaprun Machater and the Holiday Shuttle.

There are numerous shuttle and taxi services to and from the train station. In particular, we work together with Taxi Kaprun Machater. The public bus terminal is also directly opposite the train station.

With which bank cards can I pay my bill in the hotel?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro / EC debit card as well as CASH. You are welcome to transfer the invoice amount before arrival.

At what time is breakfast?

The breakfast buffet is open from 7:00-10:00h in the restaurant. An early breakfast is available for business travelers by arrangement from 6:30h.

At what time is dinner?

Dinner is served daily from 18:30-20:00h.

Which dishes are there for our children?

For your children up to 15 years we offer a children’s menu. We attach great importance to providing healthy food for our children. That is why there is always a small version of the adult’s dishes and a classic children’s menu for the kids as a main course.

The children’s menu consists of soup, main course (2 to choose from) and dessert. For further menu changes, a surcharge will be charged.

Is breakfast always included in the price?

Breakfast is included with all room rates. The afternoon snack and dinner are only included in the Falken-indulge half board.

On-site dinner or eating in our á la carte restaurant can also be booked daily in the evening.

What does the Falken-indulge half board include?

In winter, we offer a very extensive, delicious breakfast buffet, and in the evening an excellent 4-course menu with 3 main courses (also vegetarian/vegan) to choose from.

Can the dinner be canceled?

If you want to eat somewhere else in the evening or get stuck in apres ski, you can of course also unsubscribe/cancel the evening meal.

Unfortunately, we can not grant a credit or repayment.

I only booked with breakfast, can I still have dinner at the hotel?

If you have booked only with breakfast, you can still eat every evening at Falken à la Carte Restaurant or book the 4-course evening menu.

You can inform us about it at breakfast or decide at short notice in the evening.

Our friends live in another accommodation. Can they eat at our table in the evening?

Of course we can arrange a big table for you and your friends in the Falken Restaurant. Please inform us in the morning.

Do I have to pay for drinks directly in the restaurant?

We recommend that you sign your beverage bill with your waiter every evening after your meal.

The bill will then be posted to your total bill and you can pay for it on departure.

Which table do I have in the restaurant?

During your entire stay you will have your own table for breakfast and dinner in our restaurant.

I am allergic to certain foods, do I get appropriate dishes?

Yes! If you are vegan or allergic to certain foods, then please inform us before arrival.

Please note that there may always be traces of allergens in the dishes. For very dangerous allergies, please contact us directly at check-in.

In case of a combination of 2 or more allergies we can only offer you bed&breakfast but you can eat in our á la carte restaurant.

Is the hotel restaurant vegetarian-friendly?

Yes! We offer in our evening menu daily 1 vegetarian menu.

FLYING SPA WELLNESS

Do I have to bring my own bath towel and bathrobe on vacation?

Bath towels for the wellness area you get free of charge daily at the reception. A free bathrobe and slippers are in the bath bag in the room. (1 piece per person / stay)

Are there any children's bathrobes in the hotel?

Unfortunately we do not have suitable bathrobes for children. Please take with you your own children’s bathrobes.

Where should you change clothes if you want to go to the Alpine Spa & Flying Spa wellness area?

We recommend that you change directly in the room and go with bathrobe, slippers and bath bag with the elevator directly to the basement to the spa. The spa area also provides lockers for clothes and valuables.

Is there a sauna in the wellness area?

The new, spacious Flying Spa sauna and relaxation area has 3 different saunas, such as: Alpine hut outdoor sauna, rose sauna and herbal soft sauna with different temperatures.

Are children allowed in the Flying Spa sauna and relaxation area?

Children up to 14 years are not allowed in the sauna and relaxation area of the Flying Spa.

In the swimming pool children are of course allowed under the supervision of their parents. Jumping from the edge of the pool is not permitted for safety reasons.

Where can I book a massage / treatment?

Directly with us in the hotel as well as preferably by phone or mail in advance.

If you are not yet sure which treatment / massage you would like, you only have to inform us about the desired duration of your treatment and you will decide the treatment on spot.

Is there a sunbathing area in the garden in summer?

On our sun terrace in the garden and the large biologic-pool you will find many different loungers, hammocks and other relaxation areas.

Is there a hair dryer, towels, shower gel and shampoo in the room?

All these amenities can be found in the room. Also a free bathrobe and bath slippers are in the bath bag in the room. (1 piece per person / stay) Practical little things like nail file, postcards and more as well.

Is there a balcony in the room?

All rooms in the Falkenstein (except youth rooms) have a spacious balcony with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and a table with 2 armchairs and an ashtray.

Are there barrier-free rooms?

We have very large, spacious rooms that are accessible by elevator. Unfortunately, the toilets in the rooms are not wheelchair accessible. The restaurant and the bar are barrier-free to reach.

Is there a safe in my room?

Each room has an in-room safe. The key is available free of charge at the reception, with no deposit. Please note that in case of loss we have to charge € 50, -.

Is there a minibar in the room?

Unfortunately we do not have a minibar. However, the longest and coolest bar in Kaprun awaits you, the new Freiflug Bar “Freeflight Bar”.

If you want to cool down important medications, we have your own refrigerator in the restaurant for you.

What activities does the hotel offer?

Our versatile fitness room is always available for free.

Our Falken activity program includes many activities such as yoga (2x a week, free of charge), bread baking, free guided hikes in summer, free e-bike tours (e-bikes not included), toboggan evenings in winter (extra costs), archery in summer, ski workout trainings, torch hikes all year round, running and nordic walking sessions, wine tastings in our old wine cellar, cinema&redwine evenings, …

And the best thing: 90% of the activities are free of charge, unfortunately we cannot cover external services and expenses. (e.g. wine tasting, toboggan evening, archery, sports diagnostics)

Please note, that the Falken activity program changes due to the season and weather and can be canceled due to bad weather or due to a minimum number of participants (e.g. Yoga 2 persons). You can not claim these free activities.

Which sports can be practiced nearby?

The Zell am See Kaprun region is known for its incredibly diverse leisure facilities. There are more than 100 diverse sports facilities in the area. You can get a lot of information from the tourist office and at the reception.

Also pay attention to the Falken activity program with many different activities, mostly free.

How do I get to the ski resort best?

Depending on which ski resort you choose we recommend the following:

Kitzsteinhorn Glacier in Kaprun:
Since we are the closest 4-star hotel to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun and the bus stop is only 50 meters from the hotel, you can easily travel by bus (every 15-20 minutes) or by car in only 7 minutes to the valley station Kitzsteinhorn glacier.

Maiskogel in Kaprun:
The new Maiskogel valley station “Kaprun Center” is located in the center of Kaprun and can be reached by bus in a few minutes or by car.

NEW: K-ONNECTION – The Kaprun-Maiskogel-Kitzsteinhorn cable car connection makes a dream of generations come true. Since December 2019 directly from the village of Kaprun with two new cable cars to the Maiskogel and from there to Langwiedboden to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area! Ski-in ski-out, 100% guaranteed snow from October to spring and a wide range of new options – invaluable advantages for Zell am See-Kaprun.

Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See:
The Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See is easily reachable by car in 10 minutes or by ski bus (a bus all 30 minutes takes about 15 minutes time) and is now also connected to the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn, the largest ski area in Austria!

Where is the ski bus stop?

The bus stop is only 50m opposite the hotel. The two bus stops lead you in the direction of Kitzsteinhorn glacier and towards Kaprun center and Zell am See.

Is the ski bus free of charge?

As the owner of a valid ski pass, all buses in the Zell am See-Kaprun ski area are free of charge during the opening hours of the lifts.

Where can I get my ski pass?

If you have booked a hotel package including a ski pass, you will receive your ski pass in the morning on your first day of skiing directly at the reception. Only a deposit of € 2, – is payable per ski pass. The ski pass will be charged with the total room price.

If you have not included a ski pass with your booking, you can still buy the ski pass at the reception from 2 days by cash only. The prices are the same as at the skiing resort.

In which ski areas is the ski pass valid?

The ski passes in the Zell am See-Kaprun region are valid in the 3 ski areas Kitzsteinhorn Glacier in Kaprun, the Maiskogel family mountain in Kaprun and the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and also valid in the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn*. (* valid in all operating cable cars depending on snow conditions)

May I use the ski bus for free on the first day of skiing, even if I do not have a ski pass yet?

On the first trip to the ski area without a ski pass (if you want to buy a ski pass there) you can make this trip for free.

Are there also ski resort tickets for non-skiers?

Yes. The Kitzsteinhorn also offers great experiences for non-skiers in winter, such as panoramic platforms, 3D cinema, ice camp, slides, adventure gallery, guided tour with National Park Rangers and more.

You can buy these hiking or non-skier tickets directly at the skiresort and at the ticket office. These are of course only valid without ski equipment and are subject to certain restrictions. In the hotel these tickets can not be bought.

What other activities are there in winter other than skiing?

The Zell am See Kaprun region is known throughout Austria for its incredible diversity. Glacier, mountains and the lake are the 3 pillars of the fascinating winter sports offer. In addition to skiing, you can do cross-country skiing, winter hiking, snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating, sleigh rides, action tandem paragliding with host Sepp, skydiving, ballooning, ski touring, ice climbing, ice-kart racing, spa in the Tauern Spa, and much more … and of course the funny Falken-activity program with tobogganing, torchlight hikes, wine tasting, movie night, …

Kaprun has over 10 ski schools. We recommend the ski schools

Are pets allowed in the hotel?

Dogs are only allowed with advance notice and agreement with the reception. Dogs are not allowed without prior notification.

We ask for your understanding that we cannot offer some room categories for dog owners.

For €20 per day (without food) your dog will accompany you through the holiday.

Where your dog can accompany you on a leash:

  • Freiflug Bar
  • Hotel lobby (but not during breakfast & dinner)
  • Hotel terrace

In consideration of other guests, dogs are not allowed:

  • in all restaurants during breakfast and dinner
  • in the Flying Spa wellness area and on the sauna lawn
  • on the bio-swimming pond
  • If your dog is alone in the room, he must behave calmly and the room cannot be cleaned either. Please use the sign
    “Please do not disturb”
  • Barking dogs cannot be left alone in the room
  • Your dog must never be on the couch, bed, sofa and co.
  • Failure to do so will result in an additional cleaning fee of € 80 per hour
  • Please store the dry and wet food on the balconies
  • Please take your own dog blanket / dog bed and bowls to the room
  • Please note again that in the event of contamination or damage to the furniture the additional cleaning or repair costs mentioned will be charged

Is there internet in the hotel?

You can use our wireless high speed internet throughout the hotel free of charge.

Is there a laundry service?

We do not offer laundry service directly at the hotel, but Schüttdorf is only 10 minutes away from express laundry service.

Is the tap water drinking water?

Kaprun has very high quality drinking water. The water that we use in the Falkenstein comes from a nearby spring and is revived in the house after the Grander technology.

Can I charge my electric vehicle at the hotel?

Yes. The Falkenstein was Kaprun’s first hotel with an official Tesla charging station. You load your e-vehicle (all brands) with strong 32kw at our 3 charging stations.

For non-guests a certain amount per hour will be charged.

Registration before plugging in at the reception is required.
