Ski touring in Zell am See-Kaprun
Great ski touring areas await you in the Zell am See-Kaprun region, such as the Kitzsteinhorn glacier area (Kaprun) and the Ronachkopf ski touring mountain (Thumersbach). You can decide whether you prefer to go up the slopes or prefer the marked ski touring trails. There is, of course, one more option – the alpine terrain. Untouched powder slopes!
Ski touring area Kitzsteinhorn
In Kaprun, you have the choice between the two ski tours “Schneekoenigin” and “Eisbrecher” from mid-October. Here in the glacier area you can do great altitude training due to the high altitude. If you fancy a longer tour, we recommend the Eisbrecher. On this tour, you will conquer 1,019 meters in altitude up to the mountain station of the Maurer lift. The Schneekoenigin ends after 474 meters in altitude at the Alpincenter.
Skitouren only:
the Ronachkopf
Opposite Zell am See, in Thumersbach, the Ronachkopf is waiting for you. This is a mountain exclusively for tourers. Many ski tourers remember the chairlift that used to be in operation there. Now, without the chairlift, the mountain belongs exclusively to tourers. The ascent track is perfectly prepared in winter. You cover about 500 meters in altitude over 2.5 km. Once at the top, you can strengthen yourself in the Enzianhuette.
Tour to the Maiskogel
in Kaprun
Here in Kaprun am Maiskogel, you can hike up the slopes every day between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during your winter holiday. Fell on and let’s go! If you don’t feel like climbing the slopes, then try the new ski tour route on the Maiskogel. Another thing you should definitely add to your to-do list is a night climb. Every Wednesday evening you can jet down the slopes of the Maiskogel until 8 p.m
Together to the Tristkogel
If you would like to take part in a guided ski tour, we have a tip for you: the guided tour to the Tristkogel (2,642 m) with a view of the Kitzsteinhorn. The starting point is at the Langwiedboden gondola station. Meeting point for the tour is the valley station “MK Kaprun Zentrum”. The guided tour with state-certified mountain guides is offered once a week and lasts around 3 hours. You cover 660 meters in altitude.
