No matter whether you are a novice or a passionate freerider, the “Zell am See” ski resort can suit all tastes and abilities. There are well-groomed slopes, pristine ungroomed slopes and four snowparks with kickers, pipes and rails for great fun snowboarding. Whereas the “Maiskogel” (1,675 metres) and “Schmittenhöhe” ski areas are recommended to beginners, the “Kitzsteinhorn” glacier, the most popular destination for freeriders in the Alps, provides outstanding facilities for amazing snowboard experiences.

The “Salzbuger Land” holiday region has many more things to offer than mountains and powder snow for winter holidays, although this would actually be enough to spend amazing holidays. However, if you are looking for more varied leisure activities for your family, you will not be disappointed here, but rather spoilt for choice, for the opportunities are endless: there are more than 70 major visitor attractions, where you can get easily starting at the family-friendly Falkenstein Hotel. Some 50 sights can be reached in less than one hour, including museums, leisure and adventure parks, spa centres, mining museums and other leisure facilities. The staff of the Falkenstein Hotel will be delighted to give you advice and special tips for your days out.

Trails as far as the eye can see, and beyond …

The “Zell am See – Kaprun” ski area is unrivalled as to Nordic skiing, providing groomed trails of more than 200 kilometres for unlimited pleasures of country-country skiing, even before the first snow falls in the valley. For on the “Kitzsteinhorn” glacier you can always put on the skis and enjoy a workout following the glacier trail. Down in the valley, there is the “Zell am See Nord” cross-country skiing trail, one of the most extensive routes in “Pinzgau” county with a length of 25 kilometres. Set off on an amazing cross-country skiing experience!

Discover the silent winter landscape striding at a leisurely pace across the pristine snow-covered meadows and fields surrounding the ski resort of Zell am See – Kaprun. Tobogganing is really great fun you should not miss out on during your stay in Kaprun. In the gorgeous surrounding mountains you will find a wealth of exciting sledge runs: for example, the natural “Guggenbichl” track in Kaprun or the “Kohlschnait” run in the village of Bruck. Both sledge runs are floodlit at night. At the breathtaking “Maisiflitzer” toboggan run on the slopes of “Maiskogel” mountain you are welcome throughout the year to enjoy sledge rides at breakneck speed. If you are seeking even more thrills, you should visit the “Naglköpfl” Adventure Mountain in Piesendorf, which provides numerous fun activities for the whole family, such as snow-tubing and sky-gliding.
